White House Refuse To Declare Monsanto Connection

The White House has refused to reveal it’s connection with the agricultural biotech company, Monsanto, after Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility (PEER) put in a FOIA request.

PEER tried to use the Freedom of Information Act to find out whether or not lobbyists connected to the Obama administration have managed to get special deals and just what these may be.

According to PEER an email which was sent to a White House inbox from a lobbying group connected to Monsanto shows that there is a collusion between the regulators and the regulated.

Monsanto has come under fire for it’s genetically modified organism (GMO) seeds which many experts claim to be harmful to humans.

Monsanto and other GMO companies have managed to get a pass from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as well as winning the battle to keep GMO off the label of foods which contain it.

Surely if your happy to promote something and sell it then you should welcome it being mentioned on the food which it is contained in, however many people are now aware of the dangers of GMO.

Today Monsanto have managed to win the lawsuit brought against them by a large group organic farmers, seed deals and others who fear the food industry is at risk because of the biotech company .

The judge threw out the cases and criticised the group for a;

“transparent effort to create a controversy where none exists.”

Monsanto has consistently attacked farmers for not using their GMO seeds and even brought about lawsuits because they hadn’t used their product, but this judge thinks it’s “creating controversy”.

With the lack of transparency from the White House over it’s connections with Monsanto and with there being a revolving door being the company and the FDA, i can’t say i’m surprised by this ruling.

Daniel Ravicher, lead attorney for the plaintiffs, said;

“Her decision to deny farmers the right to seek legal protection from one of the world’s foremost patent bullies is gravely disappointing,”

“Her belief that farmers are acting unreasonable when they stop growing certain crops to avoid being sued by Monsanto for patent infringement should their crops become contaminated maligns the intelligence and integrity of those farmers.”

Others may choose not point out the elephant in the room because of legal repercussions, however i will. Monsanto and the FDA, along with the White House are all in bed together and the administration is helping their friends.

There is no doubt in my mind that this judge is clearly making the judgement based on politics and not on what is right.

The White House and the FDA cannot be fair or honest because it would show just how corrupt the whole system is. This is the same as the banking sector which saw the same people who worked for certain banks go to work for the regulators, creating a conflict of interest.

We as consumers have to overall power, we can choose not to touch anything that is not organic and though it may be more expensive, it will become cheaper the more people that buy it.
